We’ve made it to the Holiday Season…remember Christmas officially starts November 1st! I’m almost certain I saw Christmas decorations in October, pumpkins with Christmas hats…lol ok I’m kidding, but really does it not seem it comes earlier each year?! I digress…
Not only do the Holiday’s bring on cheer, joy, and madness (aka Black Friday) but you can’t forget the parties! If you’re anything like me, you may find yourself daunted with the task of “what to wear” ….for those oh so festive holiday parties.
Now I’m the epitome of a closet FULL of nothing to wear. No matter how much shopping/looking I do I still somehow convince myself that I NEED something. It’s bad y’all I’m talking even something as simple as a basic tee. But I mean come on can you really ever have enough “basics” or t-shirts?!
Anywho my holiday season began with the notorious Margarita Ball, hosted by the Margarita Society of Dallas. This invite only event is definitely a nice opportunity to brush shoulders with The Who’s Who of Dallas. Imagine my surprise when “the boyfriend” says he got the invite. Since I moved to Dallas in 2014 I’ve been trying to get into this Ball so you already know your girl was super excited. In my head I’m like “Yasssss I’m going all the way glam” soon followed by “damn I have to find a “formal” dress by Saturday”. Now although the boyfriend came thru, I found out Wednesday afternoon that we would be attending, mind you the event was that coming Saturday. Girlfriend, the next 48hrs were CUH- RAY- ZEE. I looked EVERYWHERE for a reasonably priced dress that was appropriate for the event. Now, for me, I guess my biggest obstacle is once I have an idea in my head my blinders are completely on. In my head I had a “vision” of my whole get up…head to toe lol. I was going old school glam, sleek hair, bold lip and something fitted all black. I had the perfect silhouette in my head! Needless to say within 24hrs my excitement of the whole idea of going to the Margarita Ball turned to pure stress. Now it wasn’t that I couldn’t find a dress, I just couldn’t find one within budget that fit my “vision”. I knew I had to be “on point” but the reality was I definitely did not have hundreds of dollars to spend on a gown to be worn for only a couple hours.
Being the resourceful person that I am, I came home, plopped down on the couch grabbed my laptop (while sipping on a martini of course…extra dirty) and headed to Amazon. When I tell you don’t sleep on Amazon! Lets just say I ordered my dress shipping included (2 day ship at that) all under $50! Melt down avoided! On top of that it fit, lived up to the pictures posted on the reviews and came in on time (which was Saturday morning).
I mention all that to say when looking for your Holiday attire for that extra special Holiday Party don’t stress, give Amazon a browse. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Just be sure to read the reviews 😉
